Keeping Kane County in the Loop

Kanab, Utah

1 The easy way: “Find it for me”

  1. Sign in and open your listing on your dashboard.
  2. Next to Google Place ID, tap Find it for me. We search Google for your business name and address.
  3. Tap the match that’s you. Check the address, especially if there’s more than one location.
  4. Tap Save changes at the bottom of the form. Your stars show on your page within a minute.

Not the right match? Type your business name and town in the search box that appears, like “Rocking V Cafe, Kanab”, and tap Search again.

2 By hand, with Google’s Place ID Finder

  1. Open Google’s Place ID Finder (it opens in a new tab).
  2. In the search box at the top of the map, type your business name and town, then pick it from the list.
  3. A box pops up on the map with your business name, a Place ID (a long code that usually starts with ChIJ), and the address.
  4. Copy the whole code. On a phone, press and hold it, then tap Copy.
  5. Paste it into the Google Place ID field on your listing, and tap Save changes.

3 If it doesn’t work

  • “That isn’t a Google Place ID”: a link from Google Maps, or your business name, isn’t the same thing. The Place ID is only the long code, like ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4.
  • Google can’t find you: your business needs a Google Business Profile, and a brand-new one can take a few days to show up. If you work from home or travel to customers, search for your business name only, without an address.
  • More than one location: pick the one with this listing’s address. Each location has its own Place ID.
  • No stars showing yet: Google only shows a rating once you have reviews. They’ll appear here when Google has them.

Stuck? Ask us from your dashboard and we’ll find it for you.
